Story arc (20)

Non-abandonable and auto-unlocking — finishing one auto-grants the next. The order and the Requires/Unlocks lines below are derived from each quest's prerequisites (completed-quest links plus the flag each quest grants).

1. First Haul

Report to the Quartermaster — he'll walk you through it. Then buy your starter ship from the Shipyard (free BASIC insurance, so a loss keeps your hull and modules), follow the yellow Locator markers to the asteroid belt, and mine copper by aiming at a rock and holding right-click with your ship's mining laser. Mined ore lands in your ship's ORE cargo hold — open your cargo and take it out into your inventory, then sell it to the IPU Vendor for your first credits.

Objectives

  1. Talk to Quartermaster
  2. Buy a Disc Scout
  3. Deposit 8× Raw Copper Ore
  4. Withdraw 8× Raw Copper Ore
  5. Earn 100 cr

2. Teeth and Skin

A hauler with no shield is a payday for somebody else. Report to the Quartermaster — he'll explain shields. Then buy a Shield Generator from the IPU Vendor and fit it to your ship. Skin first — the teeth come when you're ready for them.

Objectives

  1. Talk to Quartermaster
  2. Buy Shield Generator Mk I
  3. Fit Shield Generator Mk I

3. Fit Out

A faster ship needs a better engine. Buy a Mark II Engine from the Vendor and install it on your ship.

Objectives

  1. Buy Engine Mk II
  2. Fit Engine Mk II

4. Required Reading

The Quartermaster recommends every new pilot understand fold-tech before leaving the region. Buy the Field Guide to Fold-Tech from the Librarian and read it.

Objectives

  1. Buy Field Guide To Fold Tech
  2. Read Field Guide To Fold Tech

5. Through the Ring

Time to leave the nest — the cheap way. The stargate network predates everyone flying it: fixed rings, no fuel, no fee. Talk to the Stargate Watch Officer about the Vega-Solyn ring, then fly through it to the Solyn side, dock at Outpost Alpha, and introduce yourself to the Outpost Quartermaster.

Objectives

  1. Talk to Stargate Watch Officer
  2. Travel to sector A2NW
  3. Dock at Outpost Alpha
  4. Talk to Outpost Quartermaster

6. Refine the Haul

Raw ore is worth more once it's refined. Buy a Refinery module from the Vendor, install it on your ship, then mine copper and run it through the Refinery. Deposit the refined copper, then report to the Outpost Quartermaster at Outpost Alpha.

Objectives

  1. Buy Ore Refinery Mk I
  2. Fit Ore Refinery Mk I
  3. Deposit 3× Refined Copper
  4. Talk to Outpost Quartermaster

7. The Forge

Time to build something better than stock. Buy a Manufacturing module and install it. Refine iron and copper (a Mk II Cannon needs 6 refined iron + 4 refined copper), fabricate a Cannon Mk II, then install it on your ship. Report to the Outpost Quartermaster once it's mounted.

Objectives

  1. Buy Fabricator Mk I
  2. Fit Fabricator Mk I
  3. Fit Cannon Mk II
  4. Talk to Outpost Quartermaster

8. Pull From the Fold

Your warp drive burns Drive Cells, and cells cost money — unless you make your own. Buy and install a Fold Wave Harvester, collect your first condensed cell, and deposit it. From here the drift fuels you; stop paying for the privilege.

Objectives

  1. Buy Fold Wave Harvester Mk I
  2. Fit Fold Wave Harvester Mk I
  3. Deposit Drive Cell

9. The Unbound Road

Stargates only go where the network goes. A warp drive goes everywhere else. Buy and install a Warp Drive Mk I, stock Drive Cells, then jump to the Palewake drift in region B1 — no gate reaches it. Open your map, pick the sector, and let the drive do the rest.

Objectives

  1. Buy Warp Drive Mk I
  2. Buy 300× Drive Cell
  3. Fit Warp Drive Mk I
  4. Travel to sector B1NE

10. Groundfall

Rustfall hangs in Solyn Cradle, the region just south of home — a real planet with real ground under it. Buy a pickaxe from the Vendor, then warp out to Solyn Cradle NE. Drop into Rustfall's landing corridor and hold approach until touchdown, crack six iron from its surface deposits, and lift off again. Don't linger: surfaces get wiped by asteroid falls. When the sky turns red, LEAVE.

Objectives

  1. Buy Mining Pick
  2. Travel to sector A2NE
  3. Land on the planet
  4. Mine 6× Raw Iron Ore
  5. Lift off from the planet

11. Rig for Salvage

Every wreck is a payday — but first you need the rig. Buy a Salvage Arm from the Vendor and install it, then report to the Salvager at Outpost Alpha. Once you've drawn blood out there, she'll line up your first real strip job.

Objectives

  1. Buy Salvage Arm Mk I
  2. Fit Salvage Arm Mk I
  3. Talk to Salvager

12. The Long Way Home

Two roads cross the Reach: the gate network — fixed, free, and older than anyone admits — and your own drive, which goes anywhere and drinks cells. Take either one home to Hub Prime at Vega Reach and report to the Quartermaster.

Objectives

  1. Travel to sector A1NW
  2. Dock at Hub Prime
  3. Talk to Quartermaster

13. First Blood

You've hauled, run the gates, and crossed the drift — but you've never fired in anger, and the Frontier ahead won't wait for you to learn. Stock a Repair Kit and a Shield Battery from the Vendor, then hunt down a lone raider in the Patrolled Lanes and put it down. Watch your shield bar — pop a battery if it drops. Report the kill to the Quartermaster.

Objectives

  1. Buy Hull Repair Kit
  2. Buy Shield Battery
  3. Destroy 1 ship
  4. Talk to Quartermaster

14. Hard Lanes

The Frontier pays 2.5x — and shoots back. Fit for it FIRST: fabricate and install a Shield Generator Mk II and a second cannon. Then ride the gate chain out — Solyn to Ronn, Ronn through to the frontier ring in D8. Kill three pirates out there and haul back twenty-four titanium. Do not skip the fitting. The Frontier doesn't forgive.

Objectives

  1. Fit Shield Generator Mk II
  2. Fit 2× Cannon Mk II
  3. Travel to sector D8NW
  4. Destroy 3 ships
  5. Deposit 24× Raw Titanium Ore

15. Bigger Bones

The frigate got you here. It won't get you further. Earn your way to a Cruiser — board work, frontier ore, pirate bounties — and buy one at the shipyard. Keep the frigate: cruisers are too heavy for planetary groundfall, and the surface still pays.

Objectives

  1. Earn 120,000 cr
  2. Buy a Frigate Cruiser

16. Pale Light

Sometimes the dark tears open. Wormholes bloom in the Wild Drift — the gate chain reaches the H8 drift through Halcyon — and they close again inside the hour. Inside: crystal nobody can grow in a lab. Talk to Halloran at Hub Prime about what the openings might be, then bring back ten wormhole shards. Mind the collapse: a closing hole spits you out and takes a bite of hull on the way.

Objectives

  1. Talk to Halloran
  2. Deposit 10× Wormhole Shard

17. Company Ink

Nobody builds capital tonnage alone. The Quartermaster will walk you through it: found a faction or join one that's already flying. A rented Faction Hall room hosts the heavy industry small hulls can't — if your faction already runs one, even better. Then prove the pipeline yourself: install a Fabricator Mk III (in a room, or aboard your cruiser) and deposit twelve refined titanium for the registry audit.

Objectives

  1. Talk to Quartermaster
  2. Fit Fabricator Mk III
  3. Deposit 12× Refined Titanium

18. Keel and Cradle

Capital certification is a PILOT'S credential — every pilot posts their own assay, founder or fresh recruit alike. A Battlecruiser starts as a bill of materials: void fragments off the Wild Drift Reavers, platinum out of Frontier rock through a flux refinery, capacitors off pirate wrecks. Deposit three void fragments, thirty refined platinum, six power capacitors — faction-mates can help you gather — and the registry releases a Guardian-class blueprint to your name.

Objectives

  1. Deposit 3× Void Fragment
  2. Deposit 30× Refined Platinum
  3. Deposit 6× Power Capacitor

19. The Guardian

Assemble a Guardian kit — run your blueprint through a Fabricator Mk III, or have your faction's yards build it; the registry doesn't care whose hands welded it, only whose name certifies it. Deposit the finished kit at a station hold for the stamp, withdraw it, and redeem it at any Shipyard with a bay big enough. Certification earns station-grade fabrication rights: the Mk IV blueprint, the one that only runs bolted to a station.

Objectives

  1. Deposit Guardian Battlecruiser Kit

20. Colossus Protocol

Dreadnoughts are built by factions with a station to build them in — a Fabricator Mk IV doesn't bolt to a hull. Whether your faction's station is long-established or you raised it yourself, the registry releases a Dreadnought blueprint only to certified pilots who post the deep-drift bond: five tritanium crystals and thirty refined iridium, all Wild Drift material. Post the bond, then hear the Watch Officer out. Ships that size make the lanes nervous.

Objectives

  1. Deposit 5× Tritanium Crystal
  2. Deposit 30× Refined Iridium
  3. Talk to Stargate Watch Officer

Side quests (4)

Optional and abandonable; they open once their prerequisites are met.

First Job

The Salvager at Outpost Alpha needs bulk copper — feedstock for reverse-engineering something she won't name yet. Mine it, haul it, deposit forty units in a station hold. Pays on delivery, no questions either direction.

Objectives

  1. Deposit 40× Raw Copper Ore

Cold Harvest

Palewake is a frozen ball in region B1 — drive-only territory, no gate reaches it. Its crevasse deposits carry titanium the Patrolled Lanes don't. Land, pull six units of titanium from the ice, and lift off before the sky falls. Bring a frigate: heavy hulls can't make groundfall.

Objectives

  1. Land on the planet
  2. Mine 6× Raw Titanium Ore
  3. Lift off from the planet

Salvage Run

The Salvager wants structural hull plates — five of them, stripped from wrecks, deposited for her inspection. She's been comparing plate stampings against old Reach manifests and she doesn't like what she's finding.

Objectives

  1. Deposit 5× Structural Plating

Long Jump

The Salvager's last job is the far one. Deep Wild Drift, region G7 — the Korrhast sector. Ten units of iridium from the drift out there, and whatever you see, you tell her. She'll pay like it's dangerous, because it is.

Objectives

  1. Travel to sector G7SW
  2. Deposit 10× Raw Iridium Ore
  3. Talk to Salvager

Daily contracts (4)

Repeatable jobs from the Mission Officer board; reset every 24h.

Daily: Ore Quota

Deposit 16 copper ore into a station hold for the IPU supply run.

Objectives

  1. Deposit 16× Raw Copper Ore

Daily: Prospector's Mark

The IPU survey office wants fresh planetary core samples. Crack one surface deposit on any planet today. Frigates only on the way down — and watch the sky.

Objectives

  1. Mine_Deposit

Daily: Titanium Run

Twelve units of raw titanium, deposited at any station hold. Mid-tier rock or frozen planet crevasses — your pick, your risk.

Objectives

  1. Deposit 12× Raw Titanium Ore

Daily: Pirate Cull

IPU pays a standing bounty to keep the lanes thin. Destroy three pirate ships anywhere in the Reach.

Objectives

  1. Destroy 3 ships

Weekly contracts (5)

Repeatable jobs from the Mission Officer board; reset every 7 days.

Weekly: Trade Run

Earn 5,000 credits this week through trade, salvage, or mining.

Objectives

  1. Earn 5,000 cr

Weekly: Frontier Haul

Twenty units of raw platinum out of Disputed Space. The Frontier pays 2.5x for a reason — bring guns.

Objectives

  1. Deposit 20× Raw Platinum Ore

Weekly: Shard Survey

The Cradle Library pays well for wormhole shard samples — the openings don't keep a schedule and neither do the samples. Six shards, deposited whole. Mind the collapse window.

Objectives

  1. Deposit 6× Wormhole Shard

Weekly: Keel Contract

Standing registry contract for certified builders: post a capital assay — thirty refined platinum and three void fragments — and the registry releases another Guardian-class blueprint. One per week per pilot.

Objectives

  1. Deposit 30× Refined Platinum
  2. Deposit 3× Void Fragment

Weekly: Capital Requisition

The deep-drift bond, renewed: sixty refined iridium and five tritanium crystals buys a certified capital builder one Dreadnought blueprint. The registry does not negotiate and does not hurry.

Objectives

  1. Deposit 60× Refined Iridium
  2. Deposit 5× Tritanium Crystal
